Egypt travel, answered honestly
Which direction is better — Luxor to Aswan or Aswan to Luxor?
Both cover the same temples. Luxor to Aswan (usually 4 nights) builds up to Aswan and pairs neatly with a flight home from there; Aswan to Luxor (usually 3 nights) is a touch shorter and slots in well after Cairo. We'll recommend the direction that fits your flights and pace.
How many days should I spend in Egypt?
Most first-time travelers do well with 8-10 days — enough for Cairo plus a Nile cruise without rushing. If you're short on time, our 4-6 day Short Breaks cover Cairo and Giza well. With 12-15 days you can comfortably add a Red Sea stay or a second country.
What exactly is a dahabiya?
A traditional two-masted Nile sailing boat with just 8-12 cabins — the boutique, quiet opposite of a large Nile cruise ship. No engine noise underway, wide open decks, and a small enough guest count that the crew knows your name by day two.
Which country pairs best with Egypt?
Jordan is by far our most popular combination — a short flight, similar region, and Petra pairs naturally with the Pyramids. Dubai suits travelers wanting a modern contrast; Morocco and Turkey suit those who want two distinct cultural trips in one journey.
What actually makes a tour “luxury” rather than classic?
Three things: genuinely 5-star, personally inspected hotels instead of standard 4-star; a private guide and vehicle for your party only, never shared; and a slower, more flexible pace built around your preferences rather than a fixed group schedule.
